|Title||CAD Technician, London|
|Salary||£23,000 to £25,000 plus pension|
Often featured in the design press, this company designs and makes exceptional furniture, upholstery, lighting, fabrics and wallpapers and every design is made in Britain in small workshops that excel in traditional crafts. Their client list includes international interior designers, decorators and architects with the company’s designs found in many important private houses, chalets and yachts around the world as well as hotels, restaurants, members clubs, boardrooms and retail spaces.
As well as ensuring drawings are accurate for manufacture you’ll be building relationships with their artisan workshops, so the role will involve travelling to meet and work with them. The day-to-day responsibilities for this role will be to work on drawing up all their current designs onto SolidWorks, checking approved prototypes against technical manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks of all their furniture and lighting, along with producing installation guides and BOMs.
Proficient in SolidWorks, you’ll have 1+ year of professional experience working in a furniture manufacturing environment plus an understanding of a wide variety of manufacturing methods and processes. You’ll be able to demonstrate familiarity with the complete design process including scale, proportion, and ergonomics. Showing a passion and desire for furniture design and development (rather than creative product design) you’ll possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Good personal organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines will also be needed.
