This business is at the forefront of workplace and education furniture design, producing some of the most successful co-created workplace solutions with major international clients, and best-selling education sector seating too. They are currently looking for a design engineer to support the Design Manager, maintaining and building the CAD infrastructure, supporting day-to-day design work and interfacing with other sales, design and customer support functions. The role will also progress into designing and developing new products.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced design engineer with a strong knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, i-Logic programming (preferably) and 3D visualisation to work within the lively in-house design team. You will need to be an excellent communicator with a mix of technical skills and an understanding of design and aesthetics, the sort of individual that is keen to learn and thrives in a busy and close team. Experience working with furniture is also needed.
Main responsibilities for the Design Engineer are: Working with the sales team and clients to provide solutions for customer driven design briefs; Customer site visits and surveys; Designing customised products for specific client requirements; Producing assembly diagrams and instructions; Producing detailed space plans and extracting product data; Providing lists of components and quoting; Maintaining and developing furniture space planning design and quotation system using Autodesk’s Factory Design Suite and i-Logic; Producing 3D visuals from assembly drawings.
