Our client is based close to the Dorset / Somerset border and designs, manufactures and installs bespoke fitted interiors for the high-end residential market. With the benefits of being part of a larger group of companies, they work with architects, interior designers, project managers, quantity surveyors and private clients. They are currently recruiting for a Furniture Design Technician who is able to demonstrate that they can competently work within the high-end residential market as this role needs accurate detail drawings incorporating design for manufacture.

You will be preparing each element of the project for manufacture, producing layouts, technical and production drawings and 3D renders. The role may involve trips to sites for site surveys and will involve liaising with internal members of the company. There are really good career prospects available and the company has an excellent approach to work and their staff.

You’ll have a clear understanding of design for manufacture and a working knowledge of Inventor or SolidWorks and be competent using AutoCAD. Good communication skills will be needed and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in joinery, cabinet making, shopfitting or boatbuilding.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for running all won projects within the company, the team’s performance and output, and where possible in assisting the winning process to maximise the commercial advantage. This would suit an individual with a project management background within the cabinet making / interior design industry or someone from this sector who has great interest in channelling their skills into project management.

Responsibilities include: Team planning and project planning; Organising all required and standard meetings; Procurement outcomes and identifying commercial opportunities; Recording a clear audit trail of Project Activity; Creating a vibrant culture of signalling and internal team communication; Providing finance with the numbers / valuations / FTDs it requires to comply to contracts.

You’ll have the ability to manage / oversee internal members of a project team conveying accurate instructions and communication throughout short, medium and long-term projects. You’ll be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of financials around projects and have knowledge of basic revenue models and forecasting requirements. Also being able to demonstrate an understanding of the bespoke cabinet making industry and AutoCAD to be able to read and amend drawings for manufacture are needed.

We (Morgan Furniture) are looking for a furniture designer to join our studio team. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join a design-led manufacturer and contribute to the design and development of new collections for the Hospitality, Cruise and Workplace markets. The role would ideally suit a creative, passionate designer who wants to develop skills in design and production within an ambitious contract furniture business. The Design Studio team launch new collections, work with external designers and develop bespoke products throughout the year.

With a Degree in Furniture design or Product design you’ll have a good technical understanding of furniture construction and be fluent in SolidWorks. You’ll have the ability to produce CAD technical drawings for AlphaCAM system and also be able to issue specifications and costings for new / bespoke products. You’ll also need to be a keen and enthusiastic team player.

This fast growing provider of domestic lighting to National Retailers and its own brand label is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual with infectious creativity who displays real passion and pride in all aspects of their work.

You will be working on the low to mid-priced products for the retail clients that are manufactured in China and have a fast turnaround on design. This will involve following clients’ briefs and identifying and creating new lighting products, producing the CAD drawings to send to the factory, obtaining samples, making any amendments required and seeing it through to production and delivery. This is an ideal role for someone just starting out in industry and offers plenty of room for progression.

With a recent degree in product design, a work placement in industry would be ideal and knowledge of both 2D and 3D design software essential, they use Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Creo, SiemensNx, Rhino and 3DSMax. The ability to interpret technical drawings into manufacture would be useful and good sketching and concept generation drawings skills required. You’ll also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a strong team player.
