This British manufacturer of beautiful bespoke furniture, cabinetry and specialist joinery has two purpose-built manufacturing complexes home to traditional cabinet making, veneering, carving and gilding skills, complemented by modern design, manufacturing and finishing techniques. Experienced in all aspects of joinery manufacture and installation, they work closely with main contractors, designers and architects on both classical and contemporary interiors including dressing rooms, staircases, libraries, cinemas, wine rooms and games rooms.

They are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Cabinet Maker who has a good eye for detail. You should have a passion for making high-end furniture and be skilled in using a variety of materials. This is an ideal position for a person who is creative and enjoys making custom cabinetry from conception to creation.

You’ll have experience and be confident with the use of wood-working machinery and able to work from CAD production drawings (Veneering experience would be also preferable). You’ll need good communication skills, a positive approach and the ability to problem solve. You’ll also need an awareness of Health and Safety practices in the workshop and have knowledge of the appropriate PPE required. Lastly, you’ll be able to complete final inspections of jobs and sign them off for delivery.

Salary is negotiable (hourly rate) plus overtime, pension, quarterly profit share and additional holiday awarded for long service. Their large purpose-built manufacturing complex is home to traditional cabinet making, veneering, carving and gilding skills, complemented by modern design, manufacturing and finishing techniques.

They work on both classical and contemporary interiors including dressing rooms, staircases and libraries, cinemas, wine rooms, games rooms and yachts and have premises both in Norwich and nearer the coast. It is for the latter that they seek a Technical Furniture Designer for their growing design and technical team.

You’ll be taking a brief and/or sketched concept and working it into production drawings and 3D CAD renders using your SolidWorks skills. You’ll need at least 3 years’ experience in a wood based environment – joinery, shopfitting or cabinet making to make improvements or modifications to designs. You’ll be liaising with other departments using your excellent communication skills so will be able to work as part of a team and be able to create effective working relationships. You’ll have an appreciation of the luxury end of the marketplace, showing excellent attention to detail and careful considerations of materials and techniques.

Salary is in the range of £26,000 to £36,000 and pension. The role of Exhibition & Display Designer is a demanding and exciting role with frequent challenges creating exciting cutting edge designs.

Main Duties include: Creating detailed floor plans and technical drawings using VectorWorks; Producing rendered set visuals/sketches and fly-throughs where appropriate to market their cutting-edge designs; Being an expert in your field by volunteering innovative creative input and bespoke design ideas; Gathering information using available resources in order to cost out a reasonable estimated quotes; Contributing proactively through on-going communication, meetings etc. with all appropriate departments; Taking responsibility for being at the forefront of the design profession by keeping abreast of new developments in design and technology; Being a proactive team member engaging professionally with internal staff whilst also acting as an ambassador for the company externally.

You’ll have 3+ years’ experience in a similar role including some exhibition / display experience. With a high degree of creativity and spatial awareness, you’ll have good problem solving skills plus VectorWorks (or equivalent), Adobe CS and rendering skills. You’ll be a multi-tasker who has the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload and have a desire to be innovative with a positive and flexible approach to work. As a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with a good sense of humour, you’ll be able to react to change quickly, have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and a driving licence.
