You will also be responsible for researching into market trends, considering gaps in the market, making the products reliable, safe and visually attractive and finding environmentally friendly methods to produce them. Commercially aware you will be compiling budget cost reports for purchase and sale, completing Product DNA sheets and adhering to UK and International specifications to confirm compliance.

With a degree or equivalent qualification in Product Design you’ll have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the product design arena. A proven design flair and a creative eye for shape and colour will be needed alongside experience and sound knowledge of Cinema 4D and SolidWorks. You’ll possess an understanding of different materials (especially steel, plastic and foam) and production methods plus engineering / scientific knowledge. The successful candidate will be required to produce a high standard of detailed 3D models in Solid Edge, producing renders in Keyshot, and detailed 2D technical drawings via the draft stages. Once finalised, the drawings are then used for the manufacturing processes in their onsite factory and site fitting. Take offs for CNC milling and other outsourced material production will also be required directly from the 3D models into a CAD format, so accuracy is vital.

Manufacturing and pre-installation construction takes place in house, so good communication is required between sales, projects management, design team, production and the joiners, to resolve any potential design and material issues.

This role would be ideal for a technical designer with 2 to 4 years’ experience of bespoke joinery and resistant materials, who is passionate about problem solving the complexities of bringing different materials together to realise the client’s aspirations. You’ll need experience of 3D CAD packages (Solid Edge would be a bonus but SolidWorks would be fine). With knowledge from within the cabinet making, fitted kitchen or bespoke joinery industry you’ll also be familiar with a wide range of materials as they deal with timber, panel products, solid surfaces, stone, glass and steel.

Practical, you will need to be able to understand the technicalities of door and window details and advise where details drawn up may cause problems and keep well organized under pressure.
