Based in Devon, they are currently looking to recruit a Furniture Designer / Draughtsperson to join their team where they combine fine craftsmanship with modern techniques to create furniture and architectural joinery of the highest quality.

As a Furniture Designer or draughtsperson you’ll have experience from the furniture industry together with knowledge of material selection and manufacturing processes. Fluent in SolidWorks and ideally with good sketching and presentation skills you’ll be able to work on your own initiative, as well as within a team. They have a busy working environment and are frequently working to deadlines so attention to detail and a high level of concentration will be needed. Good project management and communication skills plus the ability to liaise with both the client and the workshop will be required. They will also consider a SolidWorks fluent furniture graduate.

They currently have an opening for an individual who has both a creative and organised mind and who understands high-end and bespoke furniture and joinery. The role of the Concept Designer will include: Putting together a concept package which comprises of floor plans and layouts which are then colour washed to give depth and visual impact, material palette and mood board, furniture drawings, equipment lists; Working with the team to provide costings and a budget; Taking part in client meetings and making modifications to the concepts; Liaising with the production team and project designers.

Commercially minded and numerate together with a furniture, interiors or arts degree you’ll have a minimum of 3 years’ design experience with bespoke furniture and/or joinery. You’ll need knowledge of different materials plus a creative, enquiring mind and an interest in historical research of architecture and period properties. Strong hand drawing and illustrative skills and the ability to use AutoCAD and ideally SketchUp or other graphical packages will also be needed.

They are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Designer with plenty of energy and ideas who can bring their own contemporary flair to the designs. Working alongside the Senior Designer, the role will involve liaising with clients and skilled craftsman to coordinate the full design, manufacture and installation of projects.

The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong desire to succeed, who is looking to grow and develop within the company and who is able to adapt to the requirements of the role whilst ensuring that all designs are completed to a first-class standard. CAD literate with Adobe CS skills, you’ll have experience in generating detailed and accurate presentation and production drawings and have a strong understanding of furniture production methods and materials. A willingness to learn and research a vast range of appliances and products to compliment designs will also be needed.

A degree in Furniture Design / Architecture or similar is advantageous (but not essential) and excellent time management, organisational, written and communication skills will be required. As the role will involve travel, a driving licence and access to transport is preferred.

This new role is senior and key to the company so the successful candidate will have plenty of experience handling both clients and liaising with the technical team and workshop. This role includes designing bespoke projects from a client brief using your CAD and hand drawing skills and will involve knowledge of historical furniture and architectural details as well as incorporating contemporary design when appropriate.

This is a role that would suit an individual who thrives on attention to detail and excels creatively. You’ll be putting together design packages and presentations for the clients and their architects so good literacy and communication skills, both verbal and written will be needed. You’ll be well-organised and committed, able to work to deadlines and manage a number of projects simultaneously. You’ll also be a self-starter as well as being able to work as part of a team.
